General Questions

  • Do you take FSA or HSA payments?

Yes!  We will provide all necessary treatment documents and receipts to submit to your HSA/FSA. If you would like, please ask your doctor if they can provide a prescription for massage therapy.

  • Is there parking available?

Yes, there is free surface parking right outside the office building

  • How often should I get a massage?

It depends on your body and your budget. A lot of people schedule a massage about once a month to stay ahead of tension, while others come every two weeks if they’re dealing with ongoing pain or stress. The main thing is not waiting until you’re uncomfortable again. We can talk together about what feels realistic and supportive for you.

  • What can I expect from my first appointment?

Please plan to arrive about 5 to 10 minutes early. This will give you time to use the restroom and to go over your intake form. We will discuss the reasons for you seeking massage therapy and what to expect once on the table.  This helps me to give a better treatment and for you to have the best experience.

Prenatal Massage Questions

  • Is massage safe during the first trimester?

Absolutely, yes! Massage therapy is safe at any stage of pregnancy and that includes the first trimester. It is an old myth that massage should be avoided during this time. I do recommend being treated by a therapist who has extra training and experience in pregnancy massage.

  • How will I be positioned during my treatment if pregnant?

There are two options for positions after the first trimester. We can do either side-lying or prone (lying face down) with the support of a specialized body cushion system. Both of the options are safe.  The goal is to always make sure you are comfortable.

  • Will a foot massage while pregnant cause me to go into labor?

No, this is a common myth regarding prenatal massage.  You can absolutely have a foot rub while pregnant. In fact, I highly recommend it!

  • How can you help with edema in my legs and feet?

Edema is swelling caused by excess fluid accumulating in tissue. Manual Lymphatic drainage is a technique that uses a gentle touch to move the extra fluid to the correct lymph areas where it can drain and expelled from the body.  This will reduce the swelling in your legs and feet.

Post-Partum Massage Questions

  • How can a post-partum massage help me?

Post-partum massage can help with the recovery from the physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion of labor. Your body just went through a wonderful, but also very hard process.  Massage can help you re-connect to your body.  Many new mothers also experience “nursing neck” as this likely the only time in your life where you will spend hours a day with your chin flexed towards your chest.  We can help alleviate the pain of nursing neck with some passive neck stretching, massage, and cranial base relief.  Massage also releases the “feel good” hormones into your body and give you an opportunity to take care of yourself.

  • How soon can I come for a postpartum massage?

You can come 24 hours after having baby.

  • How soon after a C-Section can I get a massage?

You can receive a massage you can receive a massage 6 weeks after having a caesarean birth.  This will allow you to be more comfortable when work is being done, and for abdominal work to be done.

  • Can you help with an old C-Section scar?

C-section remediation work can be done on scars that are 10,20,30 years old. We use a castor oil pack to help in this healing process. The castor oil helps soften the scar tissue and increases the elasticity of the skin. Massage therapy will also help with numbness and feelings of disconnect from your scar.

  • Can I get a massage while lactating?

Yes, you can still get massaged even when lactating. We have nursing pads on site if you start to lactate during a massage. If you are having trouble lactating, massage can also help with the production of your breastmilk.

  • Can I bring my baby to the massage?

Yes. You’re welcome to bring your baby if that helps you get the care you need. We can set up the space so your little one is close by and comfortable. Some babies nap, some nurse, and some make tiny dinosaur noises the whole time. It’s all okay. We’ll move slowly, adjust as needed, and make sure you feel supported rather than rushed. Your comfort and your baby’s well-being are both part of the session.

General Massage Therapy Questions

  • Is tipping really included in the massage price?

Yes. We want your experience to feel simple and stress free, from start to finish. Our pricing is all inclusive, which means gratuity is already built in. You can just arrive, receive care, and head out without having to think about anything else.stress-free

  • How undressed should I get for a massage?

Come in whatever feels comfortable. For your massage, you can undress to the level that feels right for you. You’ll always be draped with sheets in a way that keeps you covered and supported. Nothing is rushed and nothing is exposed. Your comfort is the priority at every step.,

  • What does TMJ Massage involve?

We work with the jaw, neck, face, and sometimes inside the mouth (only if you choose and consent to that). The pressure is gentle and intentional. The goal is to reduce pain, improve jaw mobility, and calm the nervous system patterns that keep the jaw tight. It can improve pain, reduce headaches, and make everyday movements like chewing or talking feel easier.

  • How undressed should I get for a massage?

It is always up to the client’s comfortable level how undressed they would like to get. Most therapist advise their client to undress to their comfortable level.

  • What is Gua Sha scraping?

Gua sha is a massage technique that uses a smooth tool to gently “scrape” the skin and muscles. It helps release tension, improve circulation, and reduce tightness. Sometimes it brings up temporary red marks called sha, which show where your body was holding stress. They’re not bruises and usually fade within a few days. The pressure is always adjusted to your comfort level.

  • Should I talk during the massage?

You can talk if you want to, and you can be completely quiet if that feels better. There’s no right way to do it. Some people like to chat at the beginning and then settle in. Others prefer quiet the whole time. We follow your lead and check in when needed so you stay comfortable.

  • Can I get a massage if I am taking an antibiotic?

Yes, you can still receive a massage when on an antibiotic. Rule of thumb is that you must have been on it for at least three days before receiving a massage.

  • What if I fall asleep during a massage?

It’s completely okay to fall asleep. It usually means your body feels safe enough to relax, which is a good thing. We’ll continue working while you rest, and gently wake you if we need anything from you. There’s no need to apologize or feel self-conscious at all. Relaxation is part of the process.

  • Does deep tissue massage hurt?

Deep tissue work shouldn’t feel sharp or overwhelming. You may feel strong pressure and some intensity in tight areas, but it should always stay in the “hurts so good” range. We check in as we go and adjust the pressure to your comfort level. You’re always in control, and you can ask to change the pressure at any time.

  • Should I eat before or after a massage?

It’s fine to eat before your massage. Just aim for something light so you’re comfortable lying on your stomach or side. Think snack or small meal, not a big, heavy one. After your session, eat whenever you’re hungry. Many people feel a little more relaxed and grounded afterward, so a nourishing meal or snack is perfect. Just listen to your body.

  • Can I get a massage when I am sick or have a cold?

If you’re sick, it’s best to wait. Massage increases circulation and can make you feel worse when your body is already fighting something. It also helps keep germs from spreading to others in the studio. If you’re starting to feel symptoms, please reschedule. We’re happy to help you find another time once you’re feeling better.

  • Can I get sick after a massage?

Some people feel a little tired or “off” after a massage, especially if the session was deep or focused on areas that hold stress. Massage increases circulation, which can stir up tension your body has been holding. This is temporary. Rest, drink some water, and give your body time to settle. You should not get contagiously sick from a massage, but you may feel like you need extra rest afterward, and that’s normal.

  • What if I don’t like certain areas touched?

You are always in control of your session. If there are areas you’d like us to skip, just tell us before we begin, or at any point during the massage. You never need to explain why. We adjust the work to your comfort level, and we check in so you feel safe and supported the whole time.

  • Should I shower before a massage?

If you have time, a quick shower can help your body relax and make the session feel even more comfortable. But it’s not required. Come as you are. The only thing that matters is that you feel comfortable in your own skin.

  • How hot are the hot stones used?

The stones are warm, not scorching. They’re heated to a comfortable temperature that relaxes your muscles without causing discomfort. We always check the temperature before placing them. And don’t worry about how hot they feel on our hands. We’re trained to handle and adjust the stones safely so the warmth feels soothing, not intense. Your comfort guides everything.

  • How early should I arrive for my massage appointment?

Arriving about 5-10 minutes early is perfect. It gives you time to settle in, use the restroom, and take a breath before we begin. No need to come much earlier than that. We’ll take care of everything once you’re here. The massage time includes reviewing your medical history and addressing your top concerns.

  • How far in advance should I book my appointment?

Booking early is the best way to get your preferred day and time, especially if you have a regular schedule. However, we can often accommodate next-day or even same-day appointments. You can always check our current availability through the online booking link.
